Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
At Family Dental Care Kitsilano - Dr. Harry Sangha Dentistry, we leverage technology to do everything from informing treatment planning to striving to make your dental appointments run as smoothly as possible. Since we can display digital x-rays and scans on monitors in our treatment rooms, we can show you any issues in your mouth and guide you through your treatment plan.
We're on a mission to provide patients with efficient dental care, and to keep them informed regarding their oral health. Dental technology helps us accomplish this objective.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays replace traditional photographic x-ray film with digital sensors to produce detailed computer images of your teeth and gums, in addition to other oral structures and conditions. This allows your dentist to check parts of your mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-Rays
With panoramic x-rays, your dentist can create a single flat image of your entire mouth. This image represents the teeth, temporomandibular joints, upper and lower jaws, nasal and sinus structures. We use panoramic x-rays to help plan treatments for implants, dentures, extractions and braces.
Soft Tissue Dental Lasers
Dental lasers (which use extremely focused light beams) are used in a number of soft tissue procedures, typically for healing and repair purposes. They are particularly effective at helping our dentist perform dental procedures such as lengthening crowns, reshaping gums and treating periodontal disease, while reducing pain and decreasing the need for medical interventions.
Intraoral Scanners
Intraoral scanners are used to create digital dental impressions, an ideal alternative to traditional dental impressions that can be time-consuming and messy. Your dentist uses an optical scanning wand to capture a digital image of your teeth in minutes. This device allows your dentist to gather accurate data to create digital replicas of your mouth's hard and soft tissues.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® oral cancer screening device helps your dentist identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, this test can be performed in your dentist’s office in about two minutes, during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions.
